Under Construction...
It should come to no surprise that the number 1 way to becoming a better player in your sport is by building confidence. This comes from having frequent practice reps and being comfortable in the equipment you choose for your child.
If you are wondering where to make the investment, you should start with the fielder's glove. In baseball and softball, there are two sides to the game offense and defense, your child will being wearing their glove for half the game and being comfortable plays an important factor to enjoying the game.
One of the biggest questions when it comes to gloves, is what size glove should my child play in? The size is important but there are other more important features of a glove that should take priority.
1. Glove Construction
- For tee ball and coach pitch, a glove that is made of non leather material or top grain leather is used to help the glove break in quickly
- Minors and Majors, the glove should be made of Full grain leather and dual welting, which gives the
glove good shape and weight.
2. Features meant for fit
- Smaller wrist opening or ability to re-lace the wrist on the smaller holes
- Finger stalls, these are inserts stitched within the inside that allows the finger slots to be shallow for smaller hands to fit.
Gloves come in all sizes but these are our reccomendations
Tee Ball & Coach Pitch, Glove size should be 10-11 inch
Minors ( B and A) & Majors, Glove size should be 11.25 to 11.5 inches (in the outfield or pitcher, 12 inches is acceptable)
Junior & Senior Baseball, Glove size would be 11.5 to 11.75 for infield and 12 to 12.75 inches for outfield.
